What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy has been recognised by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a potential treatment option for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) that is persistent and has not responded to other prescribed treatments. NICE recommends that the NHS should consider referring patients for hypnotherapy in such cases. Additionally, hypnotherapy has been found to be helpful in managing the pain associated with IBS in both adults and children.
